As we move into November, here’s an update on some of the construction projects currently taking place in San Gabriel:
The ACE Project and haul route restoration project nears completion
The Alameda Corridor East San Gabriel trench is nearing completion, with trains already running in the trench and several crossings already open to traffic. As part of the project, more than 3.5 miles of city streets have been repaved to repair damage from heavy truck hauling during the trench’s construction. San Gabriel Boulevard, Mission Road, Agostino Road, Del Mar Avenue, Grand Avenue, Main Street and Santa Fe Avenue are now mostly complete, and track removal at four crossings is progressing. Once the crossings are complete, construction crews will complete the final paving.

Design for this federally-funded project is now complete, and several utilities have been relocated to make way for intersection improvements. Negotiations are currently underway with adjacent property owners to acquire small portions of land necessary to construct turning lanes, curbs and sidewalks. Construction is anticipated to begin in 2018, and will be coordinated with the school calendar to minimize disruptions and delays.
